Programme Information
Will applicants be informed of both their F1 and F2 placements for their 2-year programme at the point of match to programme?
All programmes/post in Scotland are offered for 2 years.
In the North and West allocation will be to a fixed 2-year rotations.
In the East and South-East offer a hybrid of fixed 2-year programmes and an allocation to a fixed 1-year rotation with the option to select your F2 year part way through F1 from a list of specialties in your allocated programme.
If no (to above question), how and when will they be matched to F2 placements?

Will foundation doctors work in the same hospital/location for their 2-year training programme?
The programmes in Scotland offer a mix and variety of rotations, which may require a foundation doctor to move hospital/location during their programme. Scotland has three lead employers for foundation doctors which allows one contract to be offered for the duration of the 2-year training programme.
Does the foundation school allow F2 Abroad?
No, Scotland does not approve F1 or F2 training abroad.
Does the foundation school offer FPP programmes?
No, Scotland does not offer FPP programmes.
If an applicant is approved for pre-allocation to the foundation school, will they also be pre-allocated to group or programme?
If approved for pre-allocation by the national process, the Scottish Foundation School aims to pre-allocate to a Group.
Does the school allow matching to group or programme for linked applications?
In Scotland we will allow matching to both Group and Programme level as long as both applicants rank groups and programme in the same order.
Does the school hold a welcome event for newly allocated F1s?
If so, when?
In Scotland we aim to run a Welcome to Scotland Webinar for all those allocated to Scotland to explain the process for ranking Groups and Programmes. A further Webinar will be arranged in late May, early June 2026. Date TBC.
