Withdrawing an FP application
Applicants are advised to discuss their circumstances with their medical school (or allocated foundation school) before withdrawing their application to ensure that the consequences of doing so are understood.
Applicants who withdraw from the recruitment process are not able to re-join the current recruitment round, and are required to re-apply for the Foundation Programme the following year. No part of their current application will be carried forward to the next recruitment round. An entirely new application is required. This may also require applying via the Eligibility application process and UK applicants must ensure they understand the requirements of the Eligibility application process if it might apply to them.
Applicants must read the declarations stated on the ‘declarations’ page of the application form on Oriel carefully to fully understand the implications of withdrawing applications part-way through the process.
Applicants are reminded that provisionally registered doctors are not permitted to undertake alternate employment as a doctor or work as locums outside of the recognised Foundation Programme in the UK.
How do I withdraw my FP application?
Applicants are not able to withdraw their own FP application on Oriel. This must be actioned for them by either the Foundation School or the UKFPO.

You will receive an auto-comms message from the Oriel system which confirms that your application has been withdrawn.
After allocation to a foundation school has taken place you must inform your allocated foundation school and your medical school that you wish to withdraw from the process. Your foundation school will withdraw your application on Oriel. You will receive an auto-comms message from the Oriel system which confirms that your application has been withdrawn.
After match to programme and employer has taken place you must inform your allocated foundation school and employer that you wish to withdraw from the process. How do I withdraw my FPP application ?
During the application period (and before FPP offers take place) if you decide that you no longer want to apply for FPP programmes, you can withdraw your FPP application yourself on Oriel, by the national deadline.
The deadline to do so can be found within the application timeline.
