Confirming UK nomination and accessing Oriel

The Oriel application system is compatible with Safari v12+, Google Chrome v77+, Edge and Firefox v68+. Applicants should use one of these browsers when using the website and preferably the most up to date version of that browser.

Non-urgent advice: Nominated UK applicants

IMPORTANT: Nominated UK applicants are only able to access the application process by following the URL link provided in the nomination e-mail which will be sent to them. (This is not applicable to applicants who applied through the Eligibility application process).

On 15 September 2026 all applicants nominated by a UK medical school will receive an email with a link to confirm their nomination on Oriel.

Nomination emails will be sent at 09:00 (BST), however please note that this email may take some time to appear in your inbox. If you do not receive this email by late morning you should contact your medical school immediately (check your junk mail folder beforehand).

You should confirm your UK nomination and Oriel set up prior to the start of the application window. If you do not action this on Oriel before the application window opens, you can still do so within the application window but this will inevitably decrease the amount of time available to you to complete your application form during the 2 week application window. The sooner you confirm your nomination, the sooner you can begin your application.

Applicants who have applied through the eligibility process do not need to follow this process. This is because they have already completed registration in order to submit their eligibility application. However, eligibility applicants will need to complete the main Foundation Programme application form during the national application window.

If you are a nominated UK applicant:

  • You must not register an account on Oriel prior to following the steps in your nomination email. Doing so will mean that you end up with two accounts on Oriel and it could become difficult to then access the correct account that you need for your application to the Foundation Programme. (If you have already registered for an account, please contact the UKFPO).
  • You won’t be able to start your application in Oriel until you have confirmed your nomination via the email sent to you.
  • Do not attempt to confirm your nomination with the wrong email address. It is very important that you confirm your nomination and then log into Oriel using the same email address that your medical school nominated you with. This is usually your university email address. If you are unsure, please check with your medical school.
  • Your nomination email will contain an individual link for you to click on to confirm your UK medical school nomination.
  • You will be asked to set up a password for an Oriel account.  Ensure that you make a note of your chosen password, as you will need this each time you log back into Oriel to access your account and application.  You should keep your password safe.
  • After confirming your password, your Oriel account is set up and you can log into Oriel using your nominated email address and your password. You can update your profile settings at this point if you wish to.
  • You should confirm your nomination during the period 15 – 23 September 2026 so that have completed this step prior to the start of the application window which opens on 23 September 2026.
