The 2026 Person Specification details the essential criteria and eligibility requirements which applicants must meet to be eligible for the two-year Foundation Programme.

The UKFP 2026 Applicant Presentation [.pdf 757KB] is a series of slides created for use by medical schools/foundation schools in their presentations to final year students due to apply for the 2026 Foundation Programme.

The reapplication form must be completed by all applicants who have previously been removed or have resigned from a UK two-year Foundation Programme.

Applicants who did not start in post do not need to use the reapplication form.

The reapplication form must be signed by the Foundation School Director at the foundation school to which you were previously allocated and trained.

The completed form must be emailed to: helpdesk@foundationprogramme.nhs.uk

If you are an applicant who will be nominated again by your UK medical school, you must submit your reapplication form via email to the UKFPO during the main FP application window 24 September 2025 – 08 October 2025 12:00 midday (BST).

If you are an applicant who is applying via the Eligibility application route, you must submit your reapplication form via email to the UKFPO during the Eligibility application window 02 – 23 July 2025 12:00 midday (BST).

All applicants to the Foundation Programme are encouraged to make full use of the STEP process by completing the relevant form. This process is intended to support the transition from undergraduate medical education to postgraduate training and employment as a doctor.
