Welcome to the February Bulletin

I’d like to start by saying congratulations to all those Foundation Doctors who presented their work at the NFDPD in Bristol on 19th Jan.  There were a lot of really interesting poster and oral presentations.  As I approach retirement, it’s good to know that I am leaving the profession in some very capable hands.

Thanks too to all the FSDs, TPDs, ES, CS and administrators who took on the shortlisting, judging and organisation on the day and to the UKFPO team for organising the event.  I’m sure everyone had a very enjoyable and interesting day – and we managed to fit it in between storms and snow!

For those of you that are F1s, please consider undertaking a project (case report, educational initiative, ethics project etc) with next year’s meeting in mind.

Information on future UKFPO events can be found on our website UK Foundation Programme – UK Foundation Programme  where you will also find a lot of information on the Foundation Programme including the curriculum and information on ARCPs which are rapidly approaching.  Of note is our upcoming webinar on Careers.

Even if you think you know what you plan to do with your future, please attend.  The webinar is lead by the team from MDRS Careers and will a useful overview on choosing a career, exploring alternatives, applications and getting selected.  It will also provide evidence for FPC 13 (Understanding Medicine).  The session should also provide food for thought (and CPD) for supervisors who are often asked for careers advice and need to ensure their educational CPD is up to date for GMC standard 6 (guiding personal and professional development).

You can also find previous webinars on the website including last months on Sustainability.

As always, there is more information on all this on the UKFPO website. You can also email any queries to foundation.educationandsupport@nhs.net

Best wishes
Tony Choules, Operational Advisor to the UKFP
