UKFPO/NACT Foundation Programme Sharing Best Practice Event – 24 March 2021
This meeting is to encourage both faculty and foundation doctors to share their educational best practice and has been held annually for a number of years. We were hoping this would be a face to face meeting, but unfortunately, due to current restrictions it will now be virtual.
The abstract submission deadline has now passed. Registration is open. Details on the NACT website.
UKFPO Call for Foundation Doctor Case Studies
To help prepare new F1 doctors for life in foundation training, we would like to request case studies from current foundation doctors for the UKFPO website. Please refer to this case study on the Health Careers website for an idea of what this can look like, but we are open to ideas on what aspects of foundation training you would like to write about. COVID-19 Ways of Working

The Learning Hub – resources to support the management of the tracheostomy in COVID-19 patients
A suite of videos on tracheostomy management in COVID-19 patients has been contributed to the Learning Hub.
The short videos are aimed at colleagues involved in the COVID-19 response including nurses, auxiliary health professionals and hospital, and pandemic field hospital, doctors.
The series of videos include:
- A resource showing a tracheostomy subglottic suction in COVID-19 suspected/positive patient
- A video showing the change of ventilator heat moisture exchanger in a COVID-19 positive patient
- A video demonstrating the management of severe bleeding from a tracheostomy tube in COVID-19 ventilated patients

G7 Youth Summit: Recommendations Survey
Haarith Ndiaye is an FY1 in the North West region. He has been selected as the UK health delegate to the G7 youth summit. As part of this, he will be presenting a communique with policy recommendations to the heads of state in June along with his counterparts from the G7 nations.
To ensure the best recommendations are made, the UK team want to reach as many young people as possible. They want all young people to be part of this new wave of participation in international decision making. As the health stream is such a prominent feature of the agenda, it would be a great opportunity to gather the viewpoints of foundation doctors. Please complete this survey before March 14th or join one of the upcoming focus groups.

Yorkshire Paediatric Careers Event – Saturday 13th March
Foundation doctors and medical students are invited to this paediatric careers and recruitment event. It is aimed at opportunities in Yorkshire, but will also provide general ST interview tips, talks about research, leadership and training in paediatrics as well as an opportunity to discuss sub-specialties within paediatrics.
The event will take place on 13th March 2021 from 09.20 – 14.00.

Sustainable Healthcare 2021 Medical Conference – Saturday 13th March
If you are interested in presenting your work at an international conference, and hearing from renowned speakers in the field of medical sustainability, please consider attending the upcoming IVMC3.This is a free, virtual event, which will be held on Saturday 13th March 9-5pm GMT.
IVMC has had a fantastic track record starting with just 150 attendees at IVCM1, 800+ at IVMC2 and they are hoping to breach the 1000+ mark for IVMC with every corner of the globe represented by medical students and junior doctors.
