NFDPD programme

The National Foundation Doctors Presentation Day is always an exciting and dynamic event, which includes a keynote speaker who shares insightful expertise and experience with our cohort of foundation doctors and foundation faculty. The majority of the event is dedicated to foundation doctors presenting their work as either oral presentations or posters, and there are fantastic networking opportunities throughout the day. Partners and supportive organisations hold trade stands and share information (and often goodies!) with attendees.

What to expect on the day

For 15 years now, the National Foundation Doctors Presentation Day has highlighted and celebrated the achievements of UK foundation doctors. The primary focus of the event is for current F1 and F2 doctors to deliver oral and poster presentations, showcasing their work in quality improvement and sustainability, case reports, education, research or original work and Foundation Programme and the arts to their peers and senior foundation faculty, inspiring us all. The event also includes presentations from senior faculty and the UKFPO Fellows. This year (NFDPD 2026) we were excited to welcome Professor Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer for England, as our keynote speaker.

The event is led by foundation doctors, presenting interesting work undertaken during their Foundation Programme training. We are always thrilled to offer this opportunity for current foundation doctors to present their work at a national event and look forward to seeing and hearing about their contributions to medicine and to the NHS. The event also provides opportunities for organisations such as the GMC, NICE, BMA, MDU and more to engage with this dynamic and enthusiastic cohort of doctors at the start of their career.

Authors of shortlisted abstracts are invited to present their work in person at the event, with the top 20 or so being selected for oral presentation. Approximately 150 further abstracts will be selected for poster presentation. Poster presentations are carried out in a “mini-oral” format. The audience is a smaller group made up primarily of the other presenters in the poster group. Poster presentation groups will run concurrently with the main programme. Further information is on the ‘abstract and presentation’ page (under “Presentation types”).

The detailed programme for NFDPD 2027 will be published in January 2027.
