UKFP 2026: Release of Computer Generated Ranks to applicants
As part of the completion of the UKFP 2026 recruitment process, we will issue each F1 doctor who remains allocated to a UKFP 2026 programme, their individual Computer Generated Rank (CGR) that was used by the Preference Informed Allocation (PIA) algorithm to allocate applicants to foundation schools, groups and programmes.
What will happen
Once the UKFP 2026 recruitment process has concluded, including all allocated applicants having started in post, the UKFPO will email each F1 doctor who remains allocated to a programme. This email will confirm their individual Computer Generated Rank for the UKFP 2026 allocation process.
When this will happen
This can only happen once the recruitment process has fully concluded, which will include all allocated applicants having started in post.
Due to the volume of applicants, the email will be sent over several days during the week commencing 05 October 2026. This means that not all F1 doctors will receive their rank email on the same day.

The email containing your rank will be sent to the email address associated with your Oriel account. Refer to the dedicated UKFPO webpage for Oriel and Troubleshooting for guidance and information on changing the email address associated with your Oriel account.
If you intend to change the email address associated with your Oriel account ahead of receiving your rank, please ensure that you action the relevant change by no later than 04 October 2026.
If you do not want to know your rank
The UKFPO recognises that some doctors may not wish to know their rank. Ahead of the email being sent, the UKFPO has taken several measures to ensure that F1 doctors know to expect the email.
If you don’t want to know your individual rank, you should simply delete the email when you receive it. Refer to the Key Information above so that you are aware of what to look out for.
We are aware that some mail systems or providers allow recipients to see the first few lines of an email they have received without opening it, so we will take care to ensure that your rank will be included lower down in the body of the email below an introductory paragraph.
If you applied for UKFP 2026 but are not allocated to a programme
You will not receive your rank as part of this process. However, if you wish to know your rank, you will be able to request this by emailing the UKFPO Helpdesk at: england.helpdesk.foundationprogramme@nhs.net.

Why is the UKFPO are doing this?
This communication is intended to maintain and support transparency around the recruitment process and to recognise the large volume of individual data requests for rank information received after the conclusion of the UKFP 2025 recruitment round.
We appreciate that many doctors find knowing their rank after the completion of the recruitment process valuable in helping them better understand their journey and experience.
We also appreciate that many doctors will not want to know their rank. We hope that the measures we are taking will give you the opportunity to decide whether you would like to know your rank or not.
When will the email containing my rank be sent?

Will the rank also be visible within Oriel?
No, the rank will not be made visible within the Oriel system at any time.
Will I receive the email containing my rank, or will I have to request it?
If you remain allocated to a programme on 01 October 2026, you will automatically be sent the email containing your rank.
If you applied for UKFP 2026 but were not allocated to (or withdrew from) a programme for any reason, you will not automatically receive your rank. If you wish to know your rank, you’ll need to request it by emailing the UKFPO Helpdesk at: england.helpdesk.foundationprogramme@nhs.net. Please note this can only be provided on or after 12 October 2026.
Can I submit a Freedom of Information (FOI) or Subject Access Request (SAR) under GDPR legislation to request my rank before you intend to distribute them as outlined?
No, we won’t be able to provide any applicant with their UKFP 2026 rank before this process takes place.
I don’t want to know my rank. Can I opt out?
No, it is not possible to opt out if you still remain allocated to a programme. If you don’t want to know your individual rank, you can simply delete the email when you receive it. Please see the ‘Key Information’ and ‘If you do not want to know your rank’ sections above.
Which email address will you send my rank to?
The email containing your rank will be sent to the email address associated with your Oriel account. If you need to update your email address, refer to the dedicated UKFPO web page for Oriel and Troubleshooting for guidance on how to do this.
If you need to change the email address on your Oriel account, you’ll need to do this by no later than 04 October 2026.
If I don’t receive the email, can I request my rank by email instead?
Yes, but we will only be able to provide the rank after 12 October 2026.
