Sexual Safety: Reducing Sexual Harassment and Assault at UHL

The sessions were delivered to Foundation Year 1 (FY1) and FY2 doctors in the University Hospitals of Leicester and were dedicated to sexual safety. Female foundation doctors have been identified through UHLs staff survey as being at higher risk to unwanted sexual behaviours particularly from patients hence these targeted sessions.

There was emphasis that Trusts have a responsibility to protect staff from harassment from colleagues and patients, therefore we are trying to dispel myths that “there is nothing we can do” in response to behaviours from patients.

The workshop included case scenarios to work through for the foundation doctors.
