Summary
The 2026 National Foundation Doctors’ Presentation Day (NFDPD) took place on Friday 23 January 2026, at the Southampton Football Club.
NFDPD has been running for the past 15 years and provides a much-needed platform for Foundation doctors to highlight and celebrate the work they have achieved throughout their Foundation training. It also provides essential networking opportunities for early-career professionals within the medical field across the UK and Malta. This year, the UKFPO received an outstanding 923 abstracts, out of which 176 Foundation doctors were selected to present their work either as an oral or poster presentation. A total of 280 attendees participated at the event.
Foundation doctors from across the UK were invited to submit abstracts relating to work undertaken during their Foundation Programme training within the following categories: Quality Improvement & Sustainability, Education, Research or Original Work, Clinical Case Reports and for the first time, Foundation Programme & the Arts.
The event also provides opportunities for organisations such as the GMC, NICE, BMA and more to engage with this dynamic and enthusiastic cohort of doctors at the start of their career.

We were privileged to have Professor Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer for England give the keynote speech. Professor Whitty said:
“It was excellent to see so many foundation doctors showcasing their really interesting work. Audit and research are what improves health in the long term. I was pleased to have the opportunity to share with attendees some of the major drivers of change for doctors over the next 30 years current foundation years doctors will be practicing, including national and global demography, epidemiology and scientific advancements, and how the medical profession can respond to these.”
