F2 Stand-alone 2025 – Evidence of Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ)

All applicants for F2 Stand-alone 2025 must upload evidence of their primary medical qualification (PMQ) within the application form on Oriel.

To evidence your PMQ, you may only provide either:

  • a copy of your PMQ certificate, or
  • a completed copy of the 2025 Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ) Confirmation Form

If you do not have your PMQ certificate yet, the UKFPO will not accept any other evidence of a PMQ (for example, a transcript or graduation statement). You must provide a completed copy of the 2025 Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ) Confirmation Form instead.

Non-urgent advice: Ensure you get it right

If you do not provide satisfactory evidence of your primary medical qualification (PMQ) which meets the requirements outlined on this page, your application may be deemed unsuccessful.

Using your primary medical qualification (PMQ) certificate

If you have received your primary medical qualification (PMQ) certificate, you must upload a copy of it within the application form on Oriel.

You must ensure that it is a good quality image or scan with all four corners of the document visible, and that all the text is clearly legible. A full-colour copy is preferred.

If the name on your primary medical qualification (PMQ) certificate does not match the name on your Oriel application, you must justify the discrepancy.

This can be evidence of an official name change (for example, your name has changed due to marriage, divorce, deed poll), or a letter from your medical school explaining the reason for the discrepancy (for example, your name has not officially changed but you are/were known to your medical school by a different name). The letter must be on the letterhead of the medical school, signed, stamped, and dated by the medical school. The PMQ certificate and evidence of name change/discrepancy must be combined into one document which must be uploaded to Oriel as part of your application

Applicants with document(s) not in English must provide an English translation from an official organisation for each document. The original language document(s) and translation(s) must be combined into one document.

The UKFPO advises applicants follow the GMC’s guidance on translating documents that aren’t in English.

Using the 2025 Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ) Confirmation Form

You must use the 2025 Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ) Confirmation Form template if:

  • You have not yet qualified from medical school (you are still a medical student), OR
  • You have qualified from medical school but have not yet received your PMQ certificate (it has not yet been issued to you).

The form must be signed, dated, and stamped by the medical school Dean or an authorised official in the Registrar’s office. You must upload this completed document onto your application form on Oriel. Failure to provide the form (where one is required) will result in your application being deemed unsuccessful.

The template form can be found on the Resources page.

Non-urgent advice: Using your PMQ as evidence of your English language proficiency

A PMQ will only be accepted as evidence of English language proficiency if it was gained from a medical school/university in a country where English is the first and native language. The GMC maintains a list of countries where English is a first and native language. The UKFPO will refer to this list when making decisions about applications. Refer to the 2025 F2 Stand-alone applicant guidance on English language proficiency for full details.
