Situational Judgement Test (SJT)

What is the Situational Judgement Test?

The Situational Judgement Test (SJT) is a computer-based assessment, delivered in partnership with Work Psychology Group and Pearson VUE, which has been designed to assess some of the essential competences outlined in the F2 Stand-alone person specification and is based around clinical scenarios.

The SJT’s purpose is to target key attributes in the person specification including patient focus, commitment to professionalism, coping with pressure, effective communication and team working. The SJT presents applicants with a series of work-related situations and asks them questions about how they would respond to these situations. The national F2 Stand-alone person specification requires that applicants demonstrate appropriate professional behaviour in accordance with the GMC’s good medical practice domains. These questions take multiple formats such as multiple choice and ranking. 

The highest scoring applicants will be invited to interview, to further assess clinical competence.

The SJT must be taken during the specified testing window as outlined in the recruitment timeline.

Non-urgent advice: Sitting the SJT

Longlisted applicants are required to sit the SJT. There are no exceptions or exemptions to this requirement. Your application will not progress any further if you do not sit the SJT.
