Survey results

A national survey of 753 Foundation Doctors across 18 Foundation Schools found that:  

  • 94.6% of foundation doctors have not had any Foundation teaching on EDI during Foundation training
  • 17.4% of those that received EDI training felt that the training adequately covered key issues related to equality, diversity and inclusion in healthcare
  • 17.2% of foundation doctors felt that the EDI training they received addressed the challenges faced by underrepresented/discriminated against groups in the medical workforce (for example, race, ethnicity, gender)
  • 90.2% of foundation doctors said they would find it beneficial to receive training on how to respond if they were to witness a situation involving discrimination or bias.
