Important update to UKFP 2027 applicant guidance: Pre-allocation Criterion 1 Parent or Legal Guardian

Earlier this year the UKFPO announced a change to criterion 1 of the pre-allocation process. This change allowed pre-allocation only to the foundation school local to the applicant’s UK medical school.

The UKFPO received feedback on how this change may impact some applicants and after careful review of this feedback and potential impact, the decision has been taken to reverse the change.

This means that for Criterion 1 Parent or Legal Guardian, an applicant can request pre-allocation to the foundation school that they need to be allocated to and their proof of current address must be in the area of that foundation school. (All other requirements of the pre-allocation application process remain in place).

The application guidance for Criterion 1 has been updated.
