UKFP 2026 Reserve Allocation Update

Posted on:

The UKFPO can confirm that a further 15 applicants were allocated to a Foundation School on 12 August 2026 as part of round 5 of the reserve allocation process. 188 applicants remained on the reserve list and were not allocated a foundation programme.

Round 5 marked the final stage of allocations to the 2026 Foundation Programme and no further allocations will take place.

We recognise that following the introduction of the Medical Training (Prioritisation) Act, there are a number of applicants who have not been allocated to a Foundation Programme place this year. We understand that this will be very disappointing news for those applicants affected. The Act is intended to support the development of a UK-trained medical workforce while ensuring that postgraduate training capacity remains aligned with workforce need. Unfortunately, the demand for foundation places this year has exceeded the number of Foundation Programme places available, meaning it has not been possible to allocate a place to every eligible applicant.
