How to map to the more challenging FPCs

FDs report these are the most challenging FPCs to evidence – read on to find an FY2’s examples of what to map to each one!

FPC 7 – Fitness to practice

  • Download wellbeing apps such as Calm, Headspace or MindYourself
  • Complete GMC National Training Survey
  • Register with GP (FY1)
  • Career planning form
  • CS meetings
  • elfh modules like 000-1006, 000-1007 and 000-1054

FPC 8 – Upholding values

  • Exception reports – need for 24 hour care
  • Attending NHS events, e.g. M&M, audit meetings
  • Demonstrate increasing independence/reviews in SLEs
  • Basic training completion screenshot
  • DATIX involvement
  • Evidence clear cover arrangements with email screenshots
  • elfh modules like 000-1050, 000-1045 and 000-1053

FPC 9 – Quality improvement

  • QI learning like BMJ Learning or TIPSQI
  • Complete GMC National Training Survey
  • Sustainability learning
  • Attending audit, governance or M&M meetings
  • Involvement in QIP, audit or research
  • Evidence sustainable practice like reducing IV paracetamol
  • elfh modules like 000-1093, 000-1089 and 000-1091

FPC 11 – Ethics and law

  • Complete ‘Good Clinical Practice’
  • Complete GMC National Survey
  • Placement Supervision Group
  • Personal Development Plan
  • Engage with CPD- can choose specialty of interest
  • Demonstrate initiative and work independently in SLEs
  • elfh modules like 783-004, 783-006 and 743-0008
