2023-2024, F1, Northern Foundation School

I have absolutely loved my time as an F1. That isn’t to say it hasn’t come with bad days and challenging situations but reflecting on how far I have come since August 2023 is something I am very proud of. I have been very lucky with the support I have had from not only my seniors but also fellow F1s.

Top tips

My top tips would be really simple things but things that make the job so much easier:

  1. Food is fuel, you simply cannot do your job without it, and you must take breaks
  2. You are an F1 therefore you are MEANT to ask for help. You are at the very beginning of a long road as a doctor, you will be so surprised how much you learn and how fast you learn it but, in the meantime always ask for help if you need it, at the end of the day there is an unwell patient.
  3. Enjoy your time off. The job is hard however don’t let social media doctors make you think it’s the worst thing ever. It’s so rewarding and your days off should be for reflection and enjoyment of the pay check you earn!!
